BrainStation is currently seeking a Lead Educator to deliver lessons online and in-person for our Web Development program. In today's fast moving technology industry, it can be difficult to keep your skills up to date while being a full time developer. BrainStation Educators are offered the unique opportunity to teach, research, and develop applications, making themselves the most well-rounded and informed developers in the market, while simultaneously building the future of higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver world-class lectures, with the progress and pace of class in mind
  • Mentor the next wave of engineering talent by providing expert technical support to students who are building exciting projects, using the most cutting-edge technologies
  • Inspire students by showing your love for technology and using your passion as a driving force behind your teaching
  • Use feedback from students to not only improve yourself as a teacher, but also develop experimental efforts in the discipline
  • Create a safe and collaborative environment where students understand that helping their peers betters their own experience
  • Constantly improve your own technical skills, and apply these skills in collaboration with other BrainStation Educators in order to build the digital platform and tools needed

Successful candidates will have

  • 5+ years experience in a web engineering role
  • Expertise working with HTML5, CSS3, front-end frameworks (React), backend frameworks (ExpressJS on NodeJS), and databases (relational and MongoDB)
  • Strong public speaking abilities
  • Experience teaching/mentoring others
  • A self motivated, passionate, empathetic, and approachable demeanour
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • A strong work ethic with the utmost integrity and desire to excel and succeed
  • A passionate for education and creating positive learning experiences for others
